OBITUARY

EILEEN ANNE GREER

February 11, 1949 – October 7, 2024

Eileen Anne Greer, age 75, passed away after a courageous battle with lung cancer on October 7, 2024, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.

Born on February 11, 1949, in Jersey City, New Jersey, Eileen was a devoted mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend whose love for her family was the defining joy of her life.

Eileen spent most of her life in Plantation, Florida, where she formed lasting friendships and dedicated herself to her work. She worked for many years for the Plantation, Florida Police Department. After retirement, she shared an apartment and many cherished years of friendship with her dear friend, Joe, who preceded her in death.

Eileen was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Edward Greer. Edward was the love of her life, and one of her final wishes was to be laid to rest beside him.

She is survived by her son, Eddie Greer, and daughter-in-law, Amy Greer; her cherished grandchildren, Charlotte Greer and Cody Greer; her daughter, Maureen Kuebler and her grandchildren, Tyler Crawford and Lauren Coulter.

She is also survived by her sister, Mary Compagnone; her niece, Holly Barnwell; her nephew, Sean Marshall, his wife Kasey, and their two sons; her brother, Mike Maloney; his daughter Megan, his son Kelan and his son, Michael Maloney; her sisters-in-law, Suzan Greer and Valerie Greer and niece Lisa Coleman and many other nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends who held a special place in her heart and whom she spoke of often.

Eileen was a loving mother and grandmother whose greatest happiness came from being with her son and his family. She especially treasured the Christmas season, and spending every Christmas with her son, daughter-in-law, grandchildren, and her daughter-in-law’s family became a cherished tradition that she looked forward to each year. Some of her fondest memories were made during family trips to Walt Disney World with her son, daughter-in-law, and grandchildren, creating special moments that will be remembered for years to come.

Eileen also enjoyed spending time with extended family, including her sister-in-law Suzan, her late sister-in-law’s daughter Lisa Coleman and her husband and children, and the Parker family during Disney World vacations, holiday celebrations, and family gatherings.

Eileen loved telling stories of the past and sharing funny stories that brought smiles and laughter. Whether sharing memories of her younger years, telling stories about New Jersey, or making others laugh, she had a special way of connecting with those around her. She was also known for her sharp intellect and impressive knowledge during trivia games, often surprising family with the answers she seemed to know effortlessly. Her caring heart, devotion to family, and sense of humor will be remembered by all who knew and loved her.

Though she is no longer with us, her memory lives on in the hearts of her family and friends. The traditions she shared, the stories she told, and the love she gave will continue to be carried forward by those whose lives she touched.

In honor of Eileen’s memory, the family shares the poem
“A Letter From Heaven” (“When Tomorrow Starts Without Me”)
by Alena Hakala Meadows
, a message of comfort, love, and remembrance for those left behind.

Forever loved, forever remembered.
